In preparation for the January 1, 2010 merger, the Marion County and Marion City Health Departments have announced the relocation two health department divisions effective Monday, November 30, 2009.

The Marion City Health Department Nursing staff will be relocating to the Marion County Health Department located in the Public Health Wing of Marion General Hospital at 98 McKinley Park Blvd and the Marion County Environmental Health Division will be relocating to the Marion City Health Department located on the 3rd floor of the Marion City Hall Building.

Effective Monday, November 30, 2009 the Marion County and Marion City Health Departments services will be offered as follows:

All Public Health Nursing services, Administration and Emergency Preparedness will be housed at the Marion County Health Department located in the Public Health Wing of Marion General Hospital at 98 McKinley Park Blvd. The phone number is (740) 387-6520.

All Environmental Health services (permits, inspections, complaints and licenses) and Vital Statistics (birth and death records) will be housed on the 3rd floor of the Marion City Hall Building located at 233 W. Center Street. The phone number is (740) 387-3604.

All WIC (Women, Infant and Children) services will remain at the current location at 217 W. Center Street. The phone number (740) 383-5533.

This will reduce the number of locations of Marion’s public health services from the 4 current locations down to 3 and offer specific services at each location. The Marion County and City Boards of Health say they remain committed to finding a location for a total consolidation of public health services with “one stop shopping” capabilities.
