Volunteers Needed For Free Tax Program

The Salvation Army will be offering free training to volunteers interested in assisting individuals / households apply for benefits and federal and state income tax preparation.

On Tuesday December 8, 2009 between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm, volunteers can learn how to utilize a web based program through the Ohio Benefit Bank.  This training will enable a volunteer to assist clients to apply for several programs such as food stamps, HEAP applications, etc.

On Tuesday December 15, 2009, training will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. for income tax assistance.  The training will enable the volunteer to assist low income households to file a tax return for free.  This includes the Earned Income Tax Credit, and several other forms.  Through this program low to moderate income families can get 100% of their income tax refund directly deposited into their bank account in 7 – 10 days.
