Two community recycling collections will be held in Green Camp at Elgin Junior High this Wednesday and Thursday, November 18th and 19th and in Larue at Elgin Elementary on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 24th and 25th.
Call Marion County Recycling & Litter Prevention at 223-4120 with any questions or would like to receive a monthly drop-off schedule.
A full-time recycling site is also available at the Pleasant Township Senior Center (Owens Road) anytime.
These local drop-offs are funded by the DKMM Solid Waste District and processed by Sims Brothers.
Marion County’s recycling collections give area residents an opportunity to dispose of their recyclables by accepting aluminum and steel cans, newspaper, corrugated cardboard, magazines, glass jars and bottles, and #1 and #2 plastic. Residents should rinse food receptacles and only recycle cardboard and dry paper without food contamination.
Recyclables can also be taken directly to Sims Brothers, Inc. on South Prospect Street, Monday through Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday 8am-12noon. General Recycling located on Bartram Avenue accepts steel and aluminum items Monday through Friday 8am-4:15pm.
