Christy Culver, an Associate Professor of Business and Information Technologies at Marion Technical College, recently received the Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year Award from the OBTA -- An Association for Business Technology Educators.
The OBTA announced the 2009 Distinguished Service Award winners at an awards luncheon during the 82nd OBTA/North Central Business Education Association (NCBEA) Conference held in Columbus, Ohio. Culver was selected based upon degree, experience in business education, professional memberships, honors and awards, and publications.
“Christy is a high caliber individual who sets goals and works to achieve those goals to improve business education. She is the Best of the Best in the classroom,” said an excerpt from a letter of support for her nomination.
Culver received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Ashland University in 1993. She earned her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University in 1998. She started her career at Marion Technical College in 1990 as an adjunct instructor advancing to her current position of Associate Professor.
Beyond the classroom, Culver is currently president of the Ohio Business Teachers Foundation, Inc. (OBTF), North Central Business Education Association (NCBEA) Ohio Membership Directory, president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 225, secretary of Wyandot Co. 4-H Endowment Committee, and a 4-H advisor.
