The Ohio Collegiate Athletic
Conference (OCAC) recently announced conference awards for the 2009 volleyball
season and the Ohio State Marion Scarlet Wave had several players represented
among the conference six member teams competing in intercollegiate volleyball.
Ohio State Marion sophomore Megan Gibson was chosen by conference coaches as the
2009 Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Libero Defensive Player of
the Year. Gibson led the conference in digs and serve-receive percentage. She
is a 2008 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School located in
Tiffin, Oh.
Four members of the team were chosen for All-OCAC first and second team honors.
Sophomores Megan Gibson (libero) and Nikki Daugherty (middle-hitter) received
first-team honors, while freshmen Sarah McKee (setter) and Kelsey Rader
(outside-hitter) received second-team honors. Nikki Daugherty is a 2008
graduate of Olentangy
Liberty High
School in Powell,
OH. Sarah McKee is a 2009

OH. Kelsey Rader is a 2009 graduate of Bowling Green

Sarah McKee, a setter for the Scarlet Wave, was one vote shy of being named OCAC
Freshman of the Year.
"As a coach, I'm extremely proud of having five of our players being selected
for these conference awards and honors," said head coach Mark Sisler.
"Each of them has put in a lot of time honing their skills throughout the year,”
he explained. “This proves that through hard work and determination, you can
get rewarded for your efforts.
According to Sisler, he is
even more proud of the fact that members of the volleyball team personify what
means to be a “student-athlete”. The team grade average is well above 3.0 on a
4.0 grading scale. Leading the way is senior captain Sara Snodgrass.
Snodgrass will receive a
three-time USCAA All-Academic Award for her academic accomplishments while
pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Business at The Ohio State University at
Marion.
