Former Marion Harding football coach Tim Hinton is
moving to South Bend to rejoin Brian Kelly on the Notre Dame football staff.
Several media sources have speculated which Cincinnati
coaches would go with Kelly, who was hired in December to replace Charlie Weiss.
According to the Lancaster Eagle Gazette, Hinton's
brother Ron confirmed the move saying Hinton is only waiting for the necessary
background checks.
The article also states that Hinton will coach tight
ends at Notre Dame.
Meanwhile, the Irish Sports Daily speculates that Hinton
will coach quarterbacks, which would mean Hinton would be in charge of Jimmy
Claussen's successor.
Hinton coached the Presidents for 11 years, winning
Division I coach of the year in 1995 and leading the team to five Ohio Heartland
Conference titles and five state playoff appearances.
He was hired by Cincinnati in 2004 as a running backs
coach. He was subsequently moved to linebackers coach when Kelly was
hired.
Hinton was the only coach brought back by Kelly, who
replaced Mark Dantonio.
