Close but no cigar.
The Marion Mayhem could not complete its comeback
Friday, falling just short in a 54-58 loss to the Saginaw Sting.
The Mayhem trailed by as much as seventeen in the third
quarter.
Stanley Jackson threw three touchdowns, including a
13-yarder to Ian Schmidt with 1:05 on the clock, but that was as close as Marion
would get.
Maurice Douse had a 50-yard kickoff return for a
touchdown as well as catching one of Jackson's TD tosses.
James Scott also returned an interception 20 yards for a
score.
Quarterback Damon Dowdell hooked up with Nicholas Brady
for 7 touchdowns for the Sting.
The Mayhem fell to 1-1 on the season. They make
their home debut this Saturday against the Chesapeake Tide. Kickoff is
7:30.
