State Track Meet Traffic Could Be Problem
06-03-2008 10:44 pm

Those who are planning to be on the campus of The Ohio State University Saturday, June 7, should allow additional travel time and expect heavy traffic since there are several events throughout the day that will bring thousands of visitors to campus. The Ohio High School Athletic Association’s State Track and Field Tournaments, Dublin City Schools graduations, Columbus City Schools graduations and several OSU convocations are a few of the larger events that will produce high volumes of traffic on highways and streets around campus.

The OHSAA’s State Track and Field Tournaments will be held at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, with the running event finals beginning at 9:30 a.m. for Division III, 1:00 p.m. for Division II and 4:30 p.m. for Division I. All fans attending are encouraged to use the Ackerman Road exit off of State Route 315. After taking the exit, head east on Ackerman Road and turn right at the first light, which is Fred Taylor Drive. Free parking will be available in the Buckeye Lots, located near the intersection of Ackerman Road and Fred Taylor Drive and close to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Between 15,000 and 20,000 fans are expected to attend portions of the state tournaments that day, and gates at the stadium open at 7:30 a.m.
