Ridgedale Schools

Nine community school sponsors are prohibited from opening additional schools for at least a year under a new provision of state law, the Ohio Department of Education announced Tuesday. The school sponsors include Marion City Schools and Ridgedale Local Schools in Marion County.

The Ohio State University at Marion recently donated an estimated $45 thousand worth of desks, chairs, and computer tables to the students of Ridgedale Local School District in Marion, Ohio. The donation of classroom furniture was made possible when Ohio State Marion’s Delaware Center, a classroom convenience site in southern Delaware County officially closed its doors on August 1, 2011.

Van Buren took advantage of several turnovers by Ridgedale Friday night and used a strong running game to win 55-6. The Rockets moved the ball well through the air in the first half, but the turnovers kept costing them when in scoring position.

Classes just started for schools in Marion County, but it’s already grade card time. The State of Ohio Department of Education released annual district grade cards Wednesday. According to the indicators met, Pleasant is the best district in the county followed up by River Valley, Elgin, Ridgedale (who are basically tied), and then Marion City Schools.

The Marion County Commissioners Tuesday morning approved a bid for paving as well as an agreement to construct sewer facilities. Both projects impact local school districts.

Ridgedale High School students will present an encore performance of "The Taffetas" on Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, at 7:30 pm at Ohio State Marion's Morrill Hall Auditorium.

Ridgedale students present the musical "The Wizard of Oz" on Friday, February 25th and Saturday, February 26th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 27th at 2 p.m. The performances are at the historic Marion Palace Theatre.

The cast includes elementary, junior high and senior high students, under the direction of Thom Richards, and Kristi Wink, Choreographer.

The Ridgedale Athletic/Music Booster Drive scheduled for Saturday July 31 has been postponed until a later date. 

A puplic memorial service for Jane Watts will be held Saturday, July 31, 1:00 pm at Ridgedale High School.
