In recognition of travel and tourism’s tremendous economic, social and cultural impact in Marion County, the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau recently hosted a breakfast in the Guthery Room at OSUM, to honor those who work to foster tourism in the Marion area.

Marion Visitors Bureau Starts Summer Hours

The Marion Area Convention & Visitors Bureau will start their summer hours with Memorial Day weekend. The Welcome Center will be open every day of the week from the Saturday before Memorial Day through the weekend after Labor Day.

Nominations Sought for Outstanding Service Award

The Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is accepting nominations for the Customer Service Star Award, to be presented to one individual who meets the application criteria of providing outstanding service to customers.

Lodging Taxes and Burial Expenses at Commissioners’ Meeting

The Marion County Commissioners Tuesday approved the transfer of lodging taxes to the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and funding a portion of burial costs for an indigent veteran.

Memorial Day weekend will mark the start of the fifth year of  the Marion Area Convention Bureau’s Marion’s Amazing Treasures summer playing card promotion. The award winning promotion will feature a new selection of local historical treasures as well as a selection of ones better known.
