“He Heals”

Is it possible to receive Divine Healing for my loved ones and myself?

Divine Healing is an area too seldom trodden by Christians today. I believe, from experience, that the main reason is that we have not because we ask not. God wants to heal us in every way. Sometimes I think the devil and his minions convince us that we can’t be healed supernaturally.

Once you have taken part in a service of Divine Healing and seen people who have been healed, then you can believe and eagerly ask God for healing.

This morning I ran into Jim Barkenquast, a recently retired Lutheran pastor who held services of Divine Healing in the early 90’s. There was a man at one of these services suffering from liver cancer who was healed. Liver cancer kills and is hard to deal with, yet this man, at his next check up had no liver cancer showing. He was in remission! He lived three years and got saved before the cancer returned.

We held several quarterly services of Divine Healing in a number of different denominations churches after wards. Each service was different. Each service produced different results. The fact that we “Let go” and “Let God” perform His miracles in our presence and the confirming results afterward made me a firm believer in prayers of Divine Healing.

FAITH

We have a little plaque in our home that says; “Faith is not believing that God can, but that He will.”

My sister was beside me in this service and praying so hard that the hair on my arm stood straight up! I knew something was happening.

The one thing present when someone is healed is faith in Jesus Christ. Faith that results in healing carries with it an expectation that God’s power will intervene in the circumstances. Whether it be a cancer, or a broken heart, you need to have faith not only that God can heal but also that He has a loving nature, and that it is always His will to heal.

As you come to Him in humility, your confidence in His love positions you to allow the power of the Holy Spirit to flow into you to bring the healing.

When you have a special service dedicated to healing that is focused on God’s healing grace, nothing of man’s invention is in the way. We are calling on God and no one else to heal us.

One of the reasons we see an increase of healing during such a move of the Spirit is that the Holy Spirit is increasing our awareness of how much He loves us, according to John Arnott of the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship.

In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus said, “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the Prophets.” An intimate, loving relationship with God positions you to receive healing and the flow of God’s life into you.

It’s hard to know God’s love for you if you harbor un-forgiveness toward someone else. Often personal breakthrough comes when in the simple forgiveness of others who have hurt or offended you and also by forgiving themselves of their own sins and errors. A flood of God’s healing power flows as you release grace to the one that hurt you.

HEALING COMES TOTALLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD

Healing is a free gift purchase for you by Jesus Christ as His death on the cross. You can’t earn it, you can’t do anything to deserve it. Harboring judgment against others takes us out of the place of mercy and grace and back to a level of justice where there is no mercy and where we can frustrate the grace of God and block the ability to receive healing.

Jesus only did what He saw the Father doing, and He only spoke what He heard the Father speaking. So all of the deeds of healing and blessings were actually the Father’s will and doing. Jesus was simply carrying out the desires of the Father’s heart (John 1:18).

Pastor Arnott says that he is continually amazed at how many Christians still do not know how wonderful and kind God the Father is. “He loves more than anyone in the universes, and His desire is to give you the Kingdom and this includes healing. You don’t have to beg and plead but only come to him in childlike faith receiving healing is another manifestation of the Father’s love,” Arnott said.

This is why when we pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” we are praying in faith for His will to be done on earth.

People run to the doctor trying to relieve their pain. The other day I saw an empty pill card lying near the path to the park. I knew someone was trying to gain comfort by taking a large quantity of pills. Later I would walk by the grave of a young girl who tried to solve her pain by taking a hand full of pills. People who don’t know God, either by omission or by listening to secular society, have no place to turn.

Others, give God lip-service and continually postpone the blessing into the future, leaving it in the realm of hope. “Someday, I’ll go to church,” “Maybe I’ll pray tomorrow,” they mutter out loud. God’s time for the Kingdom is now! “Now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation,” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

Salvation not only means that your sins are forgiven, but also that you have freedom and are rescued from sin and can be delivered from sickness and the grip of the enemy.

HE WILL COME AND HEAL YOU

Too many pastors fail to hold regular healing services. In Mark 11:22-23, Jesus tells us to have faith in God and believe for miracles. “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says, Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them all.

Faith is necessary if we are going to see the power of God released. We sat there in in the pews strongly believing that our friend with liver cancer could be healed. None of us ever knew he wasn’t saved. But God healed that man for three years until he wondered into a church and a different pastor who asked him if he was saved. He was saved that day! Jesus told that woman with the issue of blood, “Your faith has made you whole.”

Jesus asked the blind men in Matthew 9:28, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They answered, “Yes, Lord.” He replied, “Then according to your faith, be it unto you!”

WHY HAVE A HEALING SERVICE?

I personally think it is important to hold special healing services from time to time. Knowing the power of God. And it takes power to do miracles, to heal the sick, and to cast out demons and do a miracle such as healing an injured body. Paul states the importance of God’s power in 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, “and my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” By holding special services of Divine Healing, we are appointing a place and time where the business at hand is healing and those who need healing need to come. And those who want to pray will know to come and what they are praying to happen.

We need to see and experience the power of the Holy Spirit in action. When you receive prayer for healing, put your faith in God and believe that His power will come by the Holy Spirit and do a miracle in your body. In Matthew 10:1 and in Luke 9:1, Jesus gave the disciples power to heal the sick and to cast out demons.

Jesus taught them about power, “Dunamis” (dyn-o-mite) and then imparted it to them, along with the authority to use that power. From that point on, miracles happened when the apostles prayed for the sick. This is the healing power of the Holy Spirit, which must be present, and flowing into the pain, injury or disease in order for a miracle to take place.

It is time to get into place those ministering, who believe in the power of God to heal and, who will pray for you and others in faith.

INSPIRATION: “Knowing it is your Fathers’ will to heal you and give you His Kingdom, (Luke 11:11, Luke 12:32).
