The Downtown Marion Market, organized by Downtown Marion, is every Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. Vendors display their wares on the sidewalks of West Center Street in the heart of Downtown Marion.

Karen Herr, Manager of Downtown Marion and market organizer said that one of the best things about the Market is that it changes a little each week.

Herr said throughout the entire season attendees will find baked goods, breads, maple syrup, honey, jams, jellies, pies, donuts, art, soaps, scent tarts, quiche, kale chips, jewelry, blankets and more.

The market is located on the sidewalks of West Center Street between Main and Prospect streets, and anything homemade, homegrown, handmade or remade is welcome.

“We’re a little broad in that definition,” said Herr, “in that you’ll find Amish-made items for resale or possibly fruits and vegetables from a neighboring Central Ohio county.  What we don’t want to see are mass produced items.”

Herr also indicated that the Downtown Marion Market has again been awarded a grant from the Marion County Council on Aging.  These grant monies will be used to provide low-income seniors vouchers for food items purchased at the Market.  Seniors with incomes $15,000 or less for single or $25,000 or less for couples should apply at the Downtown Marion table on the corner of Main & Center Streets after 4:00 p.m. each week.
