Marion Duplicate Bridge Club will meet every Monday at 7PM and Friday at 12:30PM at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, 197 E Center St, Marion. Contact them at https://sites.google.com/site/mariondbc/ They are American Contract Bridge registered.
The Marion City School Board of Education will hold a special board meeting on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 7:00 a.m. The meeting will be an executive session meeting for the purpose of employment of personnel.
The meeting will be held in the Administration Office, Room 225, 420 Presidential Dr.
The Downtown Marion Market runs nearly every Friday through October 11, 2013 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm each night. While vendors vary with the week and season, those stopping by can find radishes, lettuce, pies, donuts, honey, homemade noodles, fry pies, vegetable bedding plants, flowers, lawn furniture, statuary, and more.
Vendors will set up on the sidewalks of West Center Street starting at North Main Street.
Organizers will still take signups for vendor space, and anyone interested can contact Herr at 740-382-2181 or via e-mail at herr.karen@gmail.com.
Community Christian Fellowship will hold their CCF Memorial Mission 5k on Saturday, May 25, 2013. The 5K takes place at Prospect Park in Prospect. Proceeds from the run will go toward mission work that will be done in the Elgin School District area.
Registration is at 7:00am and the run starts at 8:00am. Preregistration is $25 by May 15 and $30 on race day. Kids 12 and under are $5. The first 25 preregistered, ages 13+, will receive a free t-shirt.

The Marion Chess Club meets every Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm or until the last game is finished. They play at Tim Horton’s, 1325 Mt Vernon Avenue in Marion. Organizers invite anyone interested in playing or learning to join them.
There is no cost to play and all ages and skill levels, from beginners to experts, are welcome. You don’t have to stay the whole time and some people arrive early and some later.

The Marion County Athletic Boosters Association (MCABA) Bingo is held every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening at 1701 Marion-Bucyrus Road (State Route 4). Doors open at 4:30 pm and the Early Birds start at 6:30 pm.
Proceeds benefit all five Marion County public high school athletic booster clubs.

Kingston Residence of Marion will host their first annual Boomer & Senior Expo on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The Expo, which is free to the public, will provide products, services, knowledge and advice that boomers and seniors are seeking, want and need.
The Expo will house everything from reverse mortgage information, living wills, Social Security and disability, Medicaid information, dementia and Alzheimer’s information, insurance and supplemental plans, investment advice, retirement plans, Boomer and senior trips and more.
This event will also feature valuable home products, such as: walk-in tubs, security and emergency devices, orthopedic chairs and beds. Information and assistance for caregivers of seniors will also be included.
In addition there will be live entertainment and complimentary refreshments will be provided by Ruggle’s Rolling Restaurant.

The Brandy Winfield Memorial Fundraiser Corporation says the 9th Annual Brandy Winfield Memorial Poker Run will be Saturday, June 1, 2013 starting and finishing at the Marion County Fairgrounds’ Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 220 East Fairground Street in Marion.
The day at the Fairgrounds Veterans Memorial Coliseum will begin with a breakfast starting at 8:30. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and will end at 11:00. All bikes will leave the Fairgrounds at 11:30. T-shirts to celebrate the 9th year of the ride with a special design honoring Brandy will be available for purchase on the day of the ride.
Cost for the 2013 Poker Run will be $25/couple, $20/single and includes a catered dinner at the end of the ride. Also planned are a 50/50 drawing, beer garden and entertainment provided by not one but two bands this year — Left of Center and the Bare Knuckle Band. If you can’t ride during the day you are invited to come for dinner at 6 p.m. or to listen to the bands after 7 p.m. The dinner cost is $10 per person.
Camping will be available at the Fairgrounds. Call 740-389-5974 to reserve your space. The cost is $30 with electric and water provided.
Proceeds from the 2013 ride will benefit causes important to the family of Brandy Winfield.

On Saturday, June 1, 2013 the Richland Road Church of Christ will be having a free Clothing Giveaway. Adult and children’s sizes are available. Clothing will be distributed from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
The clothing giveaway will be located at the house beside the church at 585 Richland Road.
