Lodging Taxes and Burial Expenses at Commissioners’ Meeting

The Marion County Commissioners Tuesday approved the transfer of lodging taxes to the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and funding a portion of burial costs for an indigent veteran.

The County Lodging Taxes were collected from Super 8 Motel after they were late in their payments. The Commissioners transferred $5,370.52 to the CVB to pay for marketing Marion to encourage people to come to the area.

The Commissioner also approved spending $1,000 towards the burial expenses for a local indigent military veteran. The approval comes on the recommendation of the Marion County Veteran’s Service Commission.
