Alcohol Not a Part of Deadly Crash

Filed Under:

On June 27, 2010, Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated a crash on State Route 4 north of Newmans Cardington Road, in Marion County. Jacob E. Pfeiffer, age 19, of Marion and Sandra K. Haycox, age 29, of Richwood were both killed in the crash.

The patrol says the preliminary investigation revealed that Pfeiffer drove left of center striking Haycox.

Investigators say toxicology reports have been received for both drivers. Those reports show no signs of alcohol in either driver’s systems.

“It is always puzzling when you don’t know exactly what caused or contributed to a particular crash, but in this case, we are now certain that it wasn’t alcohol,” said Lt. Chuck Jones, Marion Post Commander.
