Deadlines Near for Several Popcorn Festival Events

The Marion Popcorn Festival hosts several events throughout their three day festival. Entry deadlines are fast approaching and festival committee members are reminding interested participants to register for their events. The Popcorn Festival is sponsored in part by the City of Marion.

The Marion Popcorn Festival Fine Arts Juried Show and Sale will be held September 9, 10, and 11, 2010 in Marion City Hall on West Center Street.  The entry deadline is September 8th at 7:00 p.m. Artists may enter their work in advance by calling Tim Gorenflo at 740/361-0148 after 6:00 p.m., or by e-mailing him at zzzfineart@hotmail.com. This event is sponsored in part by the Mid-Ohio Fine Art Society.

The Marion Popcorn Festival 49 Plus Softball Tournament is set for Saturday, September 11th, and Sunday, September 12th, at Garfield and Kennedy Parks. The deadline for registration is September 8, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. For more information, or to register, call the Marion Recreation Department at 740-387-5446.

The Marion Popcorn Festival Fifth Annual Cornhole Classic tournament is being held on Saturday, September 11, 2010. Registration is between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 pm. on the day of the event. The Marion Popcorn Festival Popcorn 5000 5K run, a TAC Certified event, will be held Saturday, September 11, 2010. Entry fees will be $12.00 prior to the pre-registration deadline of September 8, and $15.00 after deadline. The Marion Popcorn Festival Popcorn Craft/Commercial/Community Area is open all three days of the festival. This area features craft items, commercial booths and, new this year, a community area. The community area will have a section with a baby changing station which is sponsored by Central Baptist Church.
