Last Chance to Buy Discounted Popcorn Fest Ride Tickets

Filed Under:

Tuesday is the last day to purchase deeply discounted tickets for the Marion Popcorn Festival amusement rides. Those tickets will be available at all Marion locations of McDonalds and the Marion Community Credit Union through Tuesday, September 7th.

Sheets of 20 tickets are once again available for a price of $15.00.  That’s a savings of $5.00 per sheet.  During the Festival sheets of 20 tickets will be $20, sheets of 40 tickets will be $34, and sheet of 60 tickets will be $50.  Only full sheets of 20 tickets will be sold during the pre-Festival sale.  This is a significant savings over ticket prices purchased at the Festival, and Marion Popcorn Festival organizers are encouraging area families to purchase their ride tickets early for the best bargains.

Burton Brothers will be handling the ride attractions at the 30th Marion Popcorn Festival, and will be bringing a new power surge ride this year.  All rides and attractions open Thursday at 1:00 and noon Friday and Saturday; various attractions require a different number of tickets.

McDonalds of Marion has three locations, Marion-Mt. Gilead Road in the Wal-Mart plaza, at Southland Mall, and 483 North Main Street; and Marion Community Credit Union’s two locations are 300 Barks Road East and 810 Kenton Avenue.

The Festival will also be having two wristband days, with the wristbands good all day long on Thursday and Friday, September 9 and 10.  Wristbands must be purchased at the Festival for $20 and are good only for the day they are purchased.  All rides will be tickets only on Saturday.

Currently celebrating its 30th year, the Marion Popcorn Festival is the largest popcorn festival in the world with an annual attendance estimated in excess of 250,000 over the three-day festival.  Other events include the Pooch Pageant, the Orville Redenbacher Popcorn Parade with over 300 units, a popcorn cooking contest, a fine art show, crafts, Popcorn 5000 5K run, Popcorn 100 bike tour, a community showcase stage, and more.

Main stage entertainment for 2010 includes The Kentucky Headhunters on Thursday, September 9, country star Joe Nichols on Friday, September 10, and Blues Traveler on Saturday, September 11.  South of Eden will open for Joe Nichols at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.  For the full list of activities or if you are interested in Kernel Seats for the entertainment, visit www.popcornfestival.com.  The Marion Popcorn Festival is sponsored in part by the City of Marion.
