Rising Folk Star Coming to Marion
Peter Oyloe brings his soulful folk sound to the May Pavilion in downtown Marion Friday, October 15 at 8:00 p.m.
Buying his first guitar for $10, Peter felt compelled to play and write music immediately. Though he is a star on the rise, Oyloe already has the sound of a well-seasoned folk singer.
Oyloe’s first album, words & music, holds its own as a collection of stories sung with a modern folk sound. It has gained positive reviews across the country with Oyloe being called a “future folk legend.” But if you ask Peter directly, he would give a very description of himself.
"…An old soul, raised on homegrown goats milk and thoughtful solitude, whose love of love and people is constant and strong," Oyloe explains.
Also constant and strong is his ability to captivate an audience. Peter Oyloe is known not only for his musical abilities, but also for his presence as an award-winning actor in the Chicago area where Palace Executive Director Tina Salamone became familiar with him.
“Everything about Peter is soulful and singular,” Salamone said. “His musical spectrum feels limitless because his emotions run deep, his connections so strong and pure. His work is a bit hard to describe because he truly is one-of-a-kind. Hmmmm. If Johnny Depp and Cat Stevens had a son and James Taylor was his babysitter, maybe THAT would be Peter Oyloe.”
Throughout the 2010-2011 season, the May Pavilion will act as a showcase for up and coming artists. Seating will be spread out amongst tables on the main floor and mezzanine levels creating an intimate club, cabaret or coffee house atmosphere.
Future burgeoning artists performing in the May Pavilion on Friday evenings include Lisa Biales (October 22 at 8:00 p.m.) and Over the Rhine (December 3 at 8:00 p.m.). Additional artists will be added to the schedule throughout the season.
Tickets for Peter Oyloe are on sale now for $10. They may be purchased at the Palace box office, 276 W. Center St. in downtown Marion or by phone at 740/383-2101.
