Crash Sends Women to Hospital, Driver to Jail

The Marion Police Department arrested a motorcyclist Thursday evening after he crashed his bike. His passenger was seriously injured and flown to a Columbus hospital with life threatening injuries.
The accident occurred at 10:45pm Thursday at the intersection of Bexley Avenue and Vernon Heights Blvd. When police and emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found 34-year-old Scarlet Manning unresponsive. She was flown to Grant Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
Police say a pickup truck driven by Vickie Miller, age 54, of Marion, was traveling north on Vernon Heights Blvd, and slowed to make a left turn onto Bexley Avenue. Greg Grammer, age 36, of Marion, was driving a motorcycle behind Miller. Police say Grammer failed to see the slowing truck in time and laid the motorcycle down while trying to stop. While the motorcycle did not strike the truck, Manning, a passenger on the bike, was ejected.
Neither Grammer nor Manning were wearing helmets. There was no update available on Manning’s condition at the time of this posting.
Grammer was arrested and taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center on felony charges of aggravated vehicular assault and operating a vehicle while under the influence.
The Marion Police Department was assisted by the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash remains under investigation.
