United Way Provides Fundraising Update at Kiwanis

The Marion Noon Kiwanis hosted the United Way of Marion County last week to hear about their 2011 fundraising campaign. The agency is hoping to raise over a million dollars to provide funding to dozens of community organizations and programs.

At the Kiwanis meeting, the United Way reported they are a little over 26 percent of the way towards their goal. This is further along than the same time last year.

The volunteers running the fundraising campaign say they are hopeful, but cautious about reaching the goal. They acknowledge that people are struggling in the down economy, but say they continue to be uplifted by the community’s generosity.
