“Through effective traffic enforcement, we are able to help stop criminals from posing as law-abiding citizens,” Colonel John Born, Patrol superintendent said. “Anyone who has had someone else use their name, social security number or their likeness to commit a crime can understand how important it is that our troopers are trained to detect this type of criminal behavior.”
Of the 572 identity crime arrests throughout the state of Ohio, 351 included a forgery charge, 136 included a charge for identity fraud and 133 included a charge of falsification. More than half of all the arrests involved suspects with suspended licenses and 87 cases involved an impaired driver.
