Government Offices, Some Services Closed for Holiday

Offices in Marion City Hall will be closed Friday, November 11, 2011 in observance of Veteran’s Day.  Please note that due to City Hall’s closure on Friday, the building’s weekly early closure day will be observed on Thursday, November 10.  Therefore, on Thursday, November 10, city offices will close at 3:00 pm and Municipal Court offices will close at 2:30 pm.

City departments that will be in operation on Friday, November 11 will observe the following schedules:

  • Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling.  Customers who normally have refuse collected on Friday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m.
  • While the Recreation office will be closed, the gym and game room will be open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for youth ages 18 and younger.
  • The Marion Senior Center will be open normal operating hours.
  • Marion Area Transit will operate on its regular schedule.
  • Essential services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual. 

Marion Public Health will be closed on Friday, November 11, 2011. The closing will affect all divisions of the Marion Public Health including the Administrative, Vital Statistics, Environmental Health, Nursing, Emergency Preparedness, and WIC divisions.

The Marion Public Health currently operates from three locations. The Administrative, Vital Statistics and Environmental Health divisions are located on the 3rd floor of City Hall.  Nursing and Emergency Preparedness divisions are located in the Public Health Wing of Marion General Hospital and WIC is located at 217 W. The Marion County Building and Marion County Courthouse will also be closed on Friday.
