Peanut Push, Parade, and More in Downtown Marion

Saturday, December 3, is a day full of holiday activities in downtown Marion. The annual events include the Peanut Push, Breakfast with Santa, Christmas Parade, and a free movie at the Palace Theatre.

Breakfast with Santa runs from 9:00am to noon at The Warehouse Restaurant. The meal is a buffet and costs $7.95 for adults and $4.95 for kids.

The annual Peanut Push fundraiser to benefit the Junior Service Guild’s Christmas Clearing House kicks off at 10:00am. Participants will race to push a peanut across West Center Street (just west of Prospect Street). You can sign up, for a donation, the day of the event. Just get there early.

The Christmas Parade steps off at noon and will run down East Center Street from Greenwood Avenue to Marion City Hall and Marion County Building. Santa, as always, will be the Grand Marshal.

Before and during the parade, you can get free hot chocolate at City Hall. Santa will even make an appearance following the parade. This free event is sponsored by Primrose and First United Church of Christ.

After the parade, everyone is invited to watch a free movie at the Palace Theatre. Sponsored by AmVets Post 138, the theatre will be showing “Home Alone” starting at 1:30pm.

In addition to the activities above, Apex Church (near the corner of Center and Prospect Streets) will be doing ornament painting, as well as face painting, with kids. Carolers from Salem Evangelical Church will be roaming the downtown from 11:00am to noon.
