Government Closures for MLK Holiday

Marion City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 16th in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. However, some City departments will operate on a regular or modified schedule for the day. The following departments will operate as follows:

  • Sanitation crews will collect garbage and recycling on Monday, January 16th. Customers who normally have refuse collected on Monday are requested to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m.
  • Marion Area Transit will observe normal business hours.
  • The Recreation Center will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for youth ages 18 and under.
  • Marion Senior Center will be closed.

Essential services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

The Marion County Building and Courthouse will be closed on Monday.

Marion Public Health will be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The closing will affect all divisions of the Marion Public Health including the Administrative, Vital Statistics, Environmental Health, Nursing, Emergency Preparedness, and WIC divisions.

The Marion Public Health currently operates from three locations. The Administrative, Vital Statistics and Environmental Health divisions are located on the 3rd floor of City Hall.  Nursing and Emergency Preparedness divisions are located in the Public Health Wing of Marion General Hospital and WIC is located at 217 W.
