Marion Dog Warden Resigns

The Marion County Commissioners Thursday morning accepted the resignation of Marion County Dog Warden Amie Adams. The Commissioners voted to have Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey act as the dog warden on a temporary basis.

Marion County Prosecutor Brent Yager has reportedly been investigating the dog warden’s office. Details on what that investigation entails were not provided.

Sheriff Bailey said Thursday that the facility is in great condition and all the animals are being cared for well. He said he wanted to be clear that those were not issues at the dog pound.

The Sheriff also stated that a deputy who had been laid off during the recent budget cuts was called back and assigned to the dog pound. The dog warden’s operations are paid for through dog and kennel license funds and the change will not impact the sheriff’s office budget.

The commissioners say the temporary changes will allow them to take some time before making a decision on hiring another dog warden.
