Marion Police Searching for Officer's Weapon
The Marion Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating an officer’s service weapon that went missing Monday morning after that officer attempted to chase down a suspect.
At approximately 7:20 am Monday, January 23, officers were investigating a possible burglary in progress in the area of North Main Street and Mark Street. Officers saw a subject between houses and a short foot pursuit followed. Officers lost the subject in the area.
A short time after the pursuit, an officer involved in the chase discovered that his gun was missing from its holster. A search of the area was conducted immediately, but the weapon was not located.
The weapon is a Glock 27, .40 cal handgun. It would look similar to the photo above.
If you have any information about this missing weapon, you are urged to call the Marion Police Department at 740-387-2525. If you find the gun, you should not handle it, but call police immediately.
