Free Seminar to Explore Sleep Disorders

Filed Under:

Senior Sleep Disorders is the topic of a Community Chat presented by Lynn Shafer, Marion Area Sleep Lab Manager, on Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 from noon to 1:00 pm at the Kingston Residence of Marion. Having a sleep disorder can cause significant negative effects on a person’s mental and physical health, including changes in mood and mental acuity.

Although sleep disorders are not a normal component of aging, they do become more common in older age, especially if you have certain health conditions. According to the Mayo Clinic and the National Library of Medicine, types of sleep disorders in seniors include insomnia and sleep apnea.

Lynn Shafer will present and discuss Sleep Disorders including:

  • Types
  • Symptoms
  • Causes
  • Effects
  • Medications
  • Considerations
  • Prevention/Solution

“Kingston is sponsoring this Community Chat because we feel it’s important to educate our elderly and their families about sleep disorders that affect seniors”, states Bob Goyer, Community Relations Director.

There is no cost for the Community Chat and a light lunch will be provided by Kingston at no cost from 11:30am to noon for pre-registered participants. To register, call Kingston at (740) 389-2311 or email bgoyer@kingstonhealthcare.com.

Kingston is located at 464 James Way, Marion.
