Smoke Provides Excitement at Grant Middle School

An air handler overheated just before the start of classes at Grant Middle School Friday morning causing the evacuation of students and staff, but no injuries and only minor damage.

Marion City Fire Department responded to the school after an alarm went off just before 8:00am. They found that a small fire had started in the overheated air handler and caused smoke in the kitchen. Firefighters shut off the pump and aired out the room.

Students were allowed back into the building, we’re sure with much disappointment, in time to start their classes.
