RV Foundation Annouces Scholarships, New Members

The River Valley Education Foundation (RVEF) recently held its first meeting of 2012 and welcomed new members to its organization. Joining the board are Joe Hamilton and Lynda Schlichting. New officers of the year include: Gary Crawford -  President; Bob Nemo -  Vice-President; Sue Jacob – Secretary; and Cathie Rhoades – Treasurer. Current members also include Kevin Mally, Lisa Hollaway, Jerry Ward, and Kelly Wagner.

The board gave their appreciation to resigning members Jim Traveline, Mark Lawrence, and Rob Weisbrodt and thanked them for their service as Board members.

The RVEF was created in 1996 and is a charitable non-profit 501(c) (3) organization whose purpose is to support the activities of the teachers, students, administration, and community of the River Valley Local School District. 

One of the RVEF’s projects has been to sell and maintain brick pavers for the athletic facility.  Monies generated from this project have been used for scholarships for graduation seniors. 

RVEF will be offering six scholarships this year, including the following:

* River Valley Education Foundation – 2 @ $250.00  (one male and one female)
* Joan Cones Elementary Education Scholarship - $1,000.00
* River Valley Music Boosters - $500.00
* Conrad Floridia Class of 1964 - $500.00
* Steve Bauer Agriculture Scholarship – 2 @ $500.00
* Beth Bayles Scholarship - $500.00

Deadline for the scholarships is March 15, 2012
