Schumer Named New Buyer/Trader at Sims Brothers Recycling

Dave SchumerDave Schumer has joined Sims Brothers Recycling as buyer/trader: ferrous, non-ferrous and non-metallics.  The announcement was made by Garrett Tracey, chief operating officer and chief commercial officer.

Schumer’s responsibilities will include working with commercial customers to develop turnkey, single-source environmentally-compliant scrap management solutions that include some or all of the following services: purchase, collection, transportation, and preparation of metal scrap and other recyclable materials.

Previous to joining Sims Brothers Recycling, Schumer began his recycling career in 2006 as operations supervisor, stainless steel and alloy division, with Sims Metal Management in Chicago. For the last four years he worked for PSC Metals, holding the position of regional scrap metal buyer for the recycling firm’s Columbus, OH region. He is a graduate of Ohio University, with a B.S. in Business Administration. He and his wife are the proud parents of a 15-month old son.

“Dave has a strong background in both ferrous and non-ferrous metal management, and our customers will like his resolve and tenacious ability to develop solutions that create extra value,” said Garrett Tracey.  “By forging new and innovative ways to help new customers, I’m confident he will be a major contributor to the growth of Sims Brothers Recycling’s commercial business.”

With four locations, Sims Brothers Recycling, headquartered in Marion, buys, accepts, transports, processes, brokers and sells all types of recyclable products including scrap iron and steel, nonferrous metals, cardboard, newspaper, high grade paper, plastics, electronic scrap and glass.
