Marion CVB honors Customer Service Star and Community Ambassador with awards

CVB Breakfast 2015 1The Marion Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau presented Linda Steed, Breakfast Hostess of Country Inn & Suites, with the 2014 Customer Service Star Award and Dan Sheridan, Marion County Prairie Parks volunteer, with the 2014 Community Ambassador Award.

In addition to the awards, the CVB also recognized other people who demonstrated excellent customer service and are adamant volunteers. Their service has helped prove Marion’s slogan of making guests “Feel Right at Home.”

Fourteen nominees were up for the 2014 Customer Service Star Award. Diane Watson, CVB executive director, said that all were very deserving of the award, making it difficult to choose a winner. The Board of Directors selected Steed because of her abundant glowing reviews collected by the Marion CVB from visitors and co-workers who spoke of her outgoing personality and ability to make a connection while satisfying visitors’ needs.

CVB Breakfast 2015 2The Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau awarded the 2014 Community Ambassador to Dan Sheridan for his forge-ahead attitude about applying for grants and spreading the word and ongoing works of the Marion Tallgrass Trail. Watson said this made him an obvious choice for our 2014 Community Ambassador Award.

The CVB is currently celebrating their 30th year of existence and their tenth year of offering the Marion’s Amazing Treasures, a scavenger hunt that runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day to promote local attractions. Sponsors for the summer promotion include the Marion Family YMCA, United Federal Credit Union, Storad Label, Merrill Lynch and Kingston Residence of Marion, as well as the Marion Star.

The Marion Area CVB’s mission is dedicated to promoting the Marion Area’s many historical and unusual attractions, with the purpose being to bring economic growth to the Marion Area.
