Poll: Ohioans against Iran deal, for Planned Parenthood funding and path to citizenship for illegal immigrants

Ohio voters oppose the deal with Iran. That’s a hot-button political issue coming up for a voter in the U.S. Senate (point: Republicans), and Ohio’s two senators are split along party lines.

But before political commercials are cut, politicians who share those views should know that Ohio voters also oppose efforts to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood (another issue in the Senate; point: Democrats).

And Ohio voters want illegal immigrants to stay and have a path to citizenship.

And they want coal-burning power plants to stop emitting greenhouses gases and clean up the air. And they generally support attempts to reduce the gap between the rich and those less well-off, including raising taxes on the wealthy.

But they say they support sending ground troops to fight ISIS is Syria and Iraq.

These are the top-line takeaways from a Quinnipiac University poll released today of Ohio voters. Sentiments are similar among voters in Florida and Pennsylvania, two other states covered in Quinnipiac’s swing-state poll, which is conducted to assess sentiment in three states that have been vital to winning the presidency.
