Two arrested, large amount of drugs seized in Marion bust

drugs-160811On 08/11/2016 The MARMET-METRICH Drug Task Force with the assistance of additional officers of The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Marion City Police Department executed a search warrant at 860 Kibby Drive, Apt. C, in Marion Township. The search warrant was a result of a drug investigation conducted by The MARMET-METRICH Drug Task Force.

Arrested was 33-year-old William A. Maniaci of 860 Kibby Drive Apt. C. on charges of Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Heroin both 1st degree felonies. Also arrested was 28-year-old Shada Reece of the same address on charges of Possession of Cocaine a 1st degree felony and  Tampering With Evidence a 3rd degree felony and Permitting Drug Abuse a 5th degree felony. Both Maniaci and Reece were taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center.

Maniaci was taken into custody outside of his apartment and was in possession of drugs, a rifle, and a handgun. Detectives, deputies, and officers then searched his residence and said they located additional weapons, drugs, and money. In total a rifle, shotgun, handgun, $15,613.00 in cash, 621.8 grams of Cocaine with a street value of approximately $63,000 and 318.7 grams of Heroin with a street value of approximately $57,000 were reportedly seized during this operation as well as a money counter.

“This was a significant operation shut down today and a large amount of drugs were stopped from being distributed in our community,” stated Sheriff Tim Bailey. “I and Chief Collins will continue to support MARMET in any way we can and provide the resources for battling the drugs in our community. This is a nationwide issue and we will continue to fight it locally with all the resources we have.”

The MARMET-METRICH Drug Task force is comprised of detectives from The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, The Marion City Police Department, and The Ohio State Highway Patrol.
