Bessie Borg (nee) Dolman, 95, of Marion

Bessie Borg (nee) DolmanBessie Borg (nee) Dolman, 95, of Marion, Ohio who was born on August 30, 1919 in Pendlebury, Manchester, England passed away January 17th 2015 into loving arms to join her father and mother, William and Beatrice Dolman and her sister Marie Wardel (Harry).

She has joined her husband Carl H. W. Borg and all previous past in the arms of our Lord. She passed peacefully surrounded by immediate family, close grand-nephew and his wife, a member from of St. Paul’s Church, and her best dear friend Rosalyne Rush. In part she will return to England as  requested of her son to be back to the place where she was born.

Bessie had numerous talents and vocations in England in addition to being a baker and hat maker; worked on the Railway system during World War II in Manchester as the Germans tried to invade and destroy the English land and spirits. The British never gave up and Bessie carried that drive with her wherever she went. “She never met a Stranger.”

To escape the toils of the war she enjoyed dancing where she met a handsome Swede who was in The Army Air Corp and was married to Corporal Carl Helge William Borg in Manchester England. She followed Carl shortly thereafter to Morral, Ohio in the mid 1940’s as a war bride. There they built a home and began the American life. She also discovered and began building a wonderful friendship in a group of English ladies who also made the same trip.

Her stories, her loving smile and her generous nature will be greatly missed by her sons Allan Geoffery (Sue) Borg of Columbus, Ohio; and Roger Michael (Elaine) Borg and grandson Justin David Borg of  Naples, Florida as well as her daughter Linda March, granddaughter Andrea Leigh and grandson Curtis Judson of Mesa,  Arizona. She is also survived by her niece Carole Wilson and grand-niece Jean (Barry) Birch in England and her favorite nephew Mike (Ruth) Brewer of Marion and other various relatives on Carl Borg’s side.

She spent a great deal of time volunteering at numerous facilities not to mention especially at the St Paul’s food pantry filling bags and handing them out to the needy. The family would ask in lieu of flowers to pleas donate to St Paul’s food pantry for the needy.

Services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Center St. in Marion on the 14th of February, 10 am with a reception and her favorite English sweet’s, coffee and tea to celebrate her life directly after in the parish hall.
