William Roger Vance, of Marion

On the evening of July 20, 2015, William Roger Vance of Marion, Ohio, passed away at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus surrounded by his family.

He was a graduate from Pleasant High School and Marion Technical College with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Bill was a great family man and a loving father. He married Kathleen Linder in 1984 and they had two daughters, Christine Vance (Holland, Michigan) and Shelly Vance (New York).

Bill worked for his grandfather and father’s family business “Vance Mobile Home Park” from the time he was big enough to carry his own tool belt. He recently retired from maintenance at Olentangy Schools and the Marion City Schools.

Bill loved to camp, ride his motorcycle whenever he had the opportunity and attend church. Despite the life long hardships with his health, Bill was one to never complain. Bill’s daughters remember him as an intelligent and patient father who loved attending their after school activities.

Bill is survived by wife, Kathy Vance, daughters; Christine and Shelly Vance, Mother, Vivia Vance, sisters; Lyn (Dalon) Schmidt, Jennifer (Ron) Ratliff, Jessica (Henry) Silverio, Mother-in-law, Virginia Linder, Brother-in-laws; Mike Linder, John (Cheryl) Linder, Sister-in-law, Pat Linder, and seven nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by Father, William H. Vance, Father-in-law, William Linder, and sister, Stacey Fortner.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday July 25, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 4535 Smeltzer Rd., Marion, Ohio. The service will be led by Rob Lill and Matt Deeren. Burial will follow in the Waldo Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Friday July 24, 2015 from 5 to 8 P.M.
