The Promise
God did not promise we would never know sorrow,
but He promised to be in all our 'tomorrows.'
and when our 'tomorrow' becomes 'today.'
He promised to be here to show us the way.
He promised to walk ever close by our side,
and hold to our hand as we race with the tide.
He promised to ride on the 'wings of the wind'
and lift us up to soar with Him.
He promised to carry us when our strength is gone,
and our heart can't find one trace of a song.
And knowing His promises are always true,
you can trust Him now; He is seeing you through.
He is holding your hand, He is lifting you up,
He is giving you courage to drink of this cup.
How bitter! How cruel! How aimless it seems,
this cup of sorrow you drink,
but trust Him, O trust Him! He's still in control,
and His love will not let you sink.
God did not promise we would never know sorrow,
but He promised to be in all our 'tomorrows'.
He is with you 'today'.
