Part 3 - A Human Being with Great Potential
03-16-2006 10:36 am

A brand new human being has begun his trek through life.  Contrary to the beliefs of some, he is not a potential human being, but a human being with great potential. Perhaps he will be a leader who will bring about world peace; perhaps, a doctor who perfects the cure for cancer; perhaps an ordinary citizen who performs extraordinary feats; or just a very nice guy.  In any case, he is a unique individual created by the hands of God for God’s own purpose.

In an instant he takes on a life all his own.  His whole being is one cell, yet within that cell are all that he will ever be.  His height, his IQ, blood type, gender  (he might even be a she), DNA, talents etc. are already determined.  Nothing except oxygen and nutrition need ever be added from this point on.

At the tender age of ten days he sends a chemical hormonal message that stops his mother’s menstrual cycle for approximately nine months. He began life a tiny cell, which, by dividing, multiplies the number of cells until they reach 18% of his full growth, or over five million cells.  He is so small that he is invisible; already he’s put one over on his mother, for she has not yet the slightest notion of his existence.

His brain waves can be measured via EEG.  For those who still believe that a fetus is only potential life: We measure the time of death by the brain cells -why not the beginning?  By the time he becomes eight weeks old he has already obtained 30 % of his cells, or almost 20 million.  That’s a lot of mathematics.

He is growing fast.  He’s only six weeks old, and he’s moving around.  Is his mother even sure that he is there?  She has to make a doctor’s appointment.  Some who have viewed sonograms of fetuses at this age have noticed the tail-like structure and have determined this as evidence that the baby has descended from fish. However, the “tail” they see is only a part of his spine, which cannot yet fit into the small body.

See his hands wave about; watch his body turn onto his side.  Soon he will sport 20 milk teeth.   At 8 weeks we can listen to his rapid heartbeat. Now all body systems are present and in place.  In a month he will squint, swallow, move his tongue; if anything should touch his palm, he will make a tight fist.

Between nine and twelve weeks (almost three months) he could brag about his brand new fingernails (if he could talk).  His mother is probably spreading the glad news.   The baby is getting ready to breath on his own. By four months he has developed eyelashes and fingerprints as unique as he, himself.  He is about half way through the process that will culminate with his birth and he has grown from one ounce to 16 ounces.

Between 13 and 15 weeks he is now almost three fourths grown. He has taste buds; he can hear sound outside the mother’s womb; his brain is functioning and he is developing memory patterns   His mother may play classical music for his appreciation, read to him, murmur of her love and excitement over his arrival into the world.  When he hears gruff and angry voices he will become agitated and afraid.  Sometimes, when an air bubble surrounds his head one can, through an ultrasound, hear his cries.  One doctor has even witnessed unborn twins fighting.

He is half way through, and only about one pound.  He even dreams.  Dr. Lilly, the “father of fetology, discovered that he can learn.  By six months he is fully aware   and responsive.   He does his periodic calisthenics, sucks his thumb, smiles and does somersaults He is quite a boy!  His cell count is now at 91%, or almost 28 million   The initial cell has divided 44 times.  It will multiply another once more to produce 7% more cells by the time he starts kindergarten; the rest, 2%, will not complete the 30 million until he becomes an adult.

The day has arrived!  He enters into the light; he takes his first breath of fresh air.  All he has ever known is in the past, but it has all been recorded by his subconscious.  The second birth will be very much like it.  That’s the birth that will catapult us into the eternal heavenly realm through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.  The first birth was automatic; the second will be his own choice.  It won’t be any easier than the first, but oh, what rewards!!!
