This is the fifteenth annual Marion Area Life Chain. In all those years there are those who have stood with us every year. There are those who have been there most of the time. We have been grateful, and, from the responses we have received, so have the participants. It is one of the two days each year that we honor those who have been aborted. The other is the Sanctity of Life Service that is held each year in one of the area churches. At both, we pray and sing for those who have been brutally tortured to death and the mothers who were never informed of any alternatives or risks to their own lives.
Our headquarters again this year will be the Marion Catholic High School parking lot. Here, on the tables, you may pick up your signs or perhaps you would rather take you places on the sidewalks of Mt. Vernon Ave. between Kensington Ave. and Church St., or on Vernon Heights. Blvd. between Mt. Vernon Ave. and Bexley. We block no driveways, nor do we leave the sidewalks.
As we emulate the Lord, we act accordingly, praying and singing the songs on the back of the signs. We wave to those vehicles that honk in approval; we pray for those who hold us in disdain. We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves (Prov. 31:8). We honor Jesus, Who said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10.
Of course, you wouldn’t want to leave us without visiting, first, the mini Cemetery of the Innocents across Forest Lawn Blvd., a special treat loaned to us by Mansfield pro-lifers for two weeks. This is only one tenth of the entire Cemetery, which lies north on rte. 4, at the fork in the road where it is joined by rte. 423. Look off to the east side of rte. 4 and discover the Cemetery of the Innocents on the grounds of Alco Distributors. Drive in and reflect on the numbers of unborn that have been buried in trash bins or even sold for parts. I’m sure it will be an awesome experience which you will never forget.
This event is sponsored by the local pro-life ministers and coordinated by Life Is From God Ministries. So, whether you come with a congregation or as an individual, we would certainly love to meet you. We’re all in this together, for God’s children . . . . .. and for their mothers.
