I kinda have a pet topic I like to study over the last couple years. It is the emerging church movement and the formalized group called Emergent. As I define it (since both have somewhat fluid definitions), I appreciate the goals of the emerging church but find great concerns within the teachings of some of the leading voices of Emergent.

Now, most people don't know alot about this topic I describe nor do they care. I get that and in some circles encourage it. If you fall into this catagory, do yourself a favor....click to another blog. This one is boring and not for you.

However, some are interested and for you, I wanted to let you know that I have started a series of blogs on this on my own web-site at www.tomhypes.com . You can go there and read through them if you wish but I do not want to bog down this site with that series. It is mostly observations from when I first came across the Emergent church group. I had gone out for a week to a church called Solomon's Porch which is pastored by one of the leading voiced of Emergent, Doug Paggit. It was also the week of the Emergent Summer Institute. I didn't reall know what I was walking into but took one crazy ride that week. This is the foundation for this series of blogs.
