Palace Theatre Showing Oscar-Nominated Movies

The Marion Palace Theatre is pleased to announce February will feature upcoming movies celebrating 2011 Academy Award Nominated films for Best Picture. 

Palace Theatre management announced new show times will be daily Friday through Sunday at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. This includes the newly added viewing option of 2:00 pm Friday afternoons.

The Fighter (R) will be shown on February 11, 12 and 13 at the Marion Palace Theatre.

Fandango.com describes The Fighter as a drama about boxer "Irish" Micky Ward's unlikely road to the world light welterweight title.   His Rocky-like rise was shepherded by half-brother Dicky, a boxer-turned-trainer who rebounded in life after nearly being KO'd by drugs and crime.  This film starring Amy Adams, Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg has been nominated for 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Directing, and Best Film Editing.

Movie tickets at the Marion Palace Theatre are offered as follows: $4.00 adults/ $3.00 seniors ages 62 years and older/ $2.00 children ages 12 years and younger.

Concession items are available for patrons: $1.00 candy / $1.50 for drinks and popcorn. Movie tickets may be purchased at the Palace Theatre door, 276 W. Center St. in downtown Marion forty-five minutes before movie show time.
