The City of Marion and the Marion County EMA have cancelled a planned tornado drill for Wednesday morning. The test was to be part of the statewide tornado drill as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week. The statewide drill will be rescheduled.
The City's Safety Director, Tom Robbins, says the siren tests were cancelled because of the possibility of actual severe weather hitting the area. He reports they did not want there to be confusion between the test and a real emergency.
Robbins said if actual severe weather strikes the Marion area, the sirens will go off at that time.
