The Salvation Army in Marion will hold a “Stuff The Bus” toy and clothing drive to help provide gifts for local area children this Christmas season. The bus will be placed in front of the Marion Centre Mall starting at 4:00pm on Friday, December 2, and running through 8:00pm on Saturday, December 3.
Area residents are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys and children’s clothing of all sizes to attempt to stuff the bus with their donations. Non-perishable food items and monetary donations will also be accepted.
“This is a great opportunity for members of the community to provide support for their neighbors in need in a rather fun way.” stated Major Paul Knickerbocker, commander of the Marion Salvation Army. “Although we know that people all over the community are facing financial challenges, we hope that many will join in the spirit of the season and help us to provide a spark of joy to some of the children in the most need.”
Everything collected will be distributed to Marion area families who have already completed the application process. The goal is to be able to provide each applicant child with two gifts, stocking stuffers, a hat and gloves and clothing items, as they are available.
Anyone wishing to make specific purchases may obtain an Angel Tag from trees located in Big Lots, Walmart, Scioto Shoe Mart and other area locations. Gift items may also be dropped off at these locations.
Further information is available by calling The Salvation Army at 382-2156.
“We always appreciate the support the community entrusts to The Salvation Army for our ongoing efforts”, said Major Knickerbocker, “I thank them in advance for all they are doing to help us meet the needs of others this Christmas season!”
