Marion Noon Lions Club Revived

47 Marion community leaders were inducted into Marion’s newest service club, the Marion Noon Lions Club, on Saturday, April 9, at the Marion Country Club. The event was held to officially charter and induct the charter members into the revived club.

Currently there are 1,352,239 members throughout the world representing 206 nations in Lions Club International.

District Governor Robert Berry of Marion was on hand in which to present the Charter to newly elected Charter Club President Allen Gruber.

Lynn Thomas, President of the Prospect Lions Club, the sponsoring club, stated, “Marion formally had a Marion Noon Lions Club that was Chartered in 1939 but it vanished with the aging of it members and it dropped during the downturn of the economy past years”.  He said, ”this club can be a vital part of hope for this community in its future”.

Sight preservation is be the primary goal of this club along with other major community needs  which the club intends to address. The Marion Noon Lions Club is open to all citizens wishing to share their time in making Marion a better place to live.

The Club meets the first and third Wednesdays at noon at New Beginnings Café, 141 East Center Street in Marion.
