Elgin Superintendent Says Thank You
Elgin Local Schools Superintendent Bruce Gast has issued the following thank you letter in response to voters' approval of their levy renewal.
On behalf of the Elgin school board and all district staff, I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to you, the Elgin Local Schools community, for the strong support you have given our school district over the years, and especially again on Nov. 8, 2011.
We realize these are very difficult financial times in our communities. Your continued willingness to support school levies in challenging times is inspiring and motivational to all of us who work in the Elgin School District.
Strong schools are the backbone of a strong local community, and supportive communities are the heart and life’s blood of successful schools.
With this kind of community support, it is easy to see why Elgin is able to “keep all the great things going”! We continue to raise expectations for all students and staff, and exceed them — improving academic outcomes and strengthening our teaching workforce. We do this together. As a community, we continue our relentless pursuit of an outstanding education for all students.
Elgin students consistently demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, and the renewal levy will help to sustain a first-class education vital to that success. We will strive to maintain your trust and use resources wisely to provide an excellent education for all students.
Our children are our greatest resource and hope for a stronger future. The Elgin community has a long and proud history of support for quality public education, and we thank you for continuing that legacy and tradition during these difficult times.
Sincerely,
Bruce Gast
Superintendent, Elgin Local Schools
