Emanuel Lutheran Holding 14th Annual Free Thanksgiving Day Meal
Thursday, November 24th, Emanuel Lutheran Church will once again offer a free Thanksgiving meal in their parlor from noon to 4:00pm with dine-in, carry-out and delivery options. The dinner began in 1998 and has grown into one of the church’s largest outreach programs. 2010 saw over 700 members of the community being fed their holiday meal by Emanuel.
This year’s menu consists of the standard Thanksgiving foods including turkey, ham, stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls and pie.
Carry-Out is available from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and delivery from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Both options require reservations through the church office (740/383-2184) no later than Tuesday at noon.
All food, supplies and labor for the meal are provided by members of Emanuel’s congregation and other community members (with supplemental funding by the Central Ohio Four County Chapter of Thrivent Financial. Those wishing to volunteer or contribute are asked to call the church office.
Emanuel Lutheran Church is located at 241 S. Prospect St in Marion and offers three worship services on Sundays (Traditional at 8:00 a.m. & 10:30 a.m., Contemporary at 9:30 a.m.) as well as Sunday School at 9:15 a.m. A Thursday evening Praise Service is offered at 7:00 p.m. Every 4th Sunday of the month a Gentle Worship Service (geared towards families with individuals who are challenged by special needs, including down syndrome, the hearing and/or visually impaired, autism, etc. ) is offered at 1:30 p.m.
