The Marion County Commissioners are holding two more information sessions to present their position on the need for the half percent sales tax to maintain current services. The next session is Wednesday, October 19, at 10:00am in the Prospect Room located in the lower level of the Marion County Building.
Sessions will also be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 25, and Wednesday, November 2, in the upstairs meeting room at the Marion Public Library.
The sessions are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend to get their questions answered.
The sales tax increase went into effect on October 1. Regardless of the outcome of the election, the increase will remain in effect through March of 2012 by state law. The increase amounts to an additional 50 cents for each $100 spent.
