Patrol Arrest Five for OVI During Marion Checkpoint

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion Police Department, held an OVI checkpoint on Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the 200 block of North Main Street in the City of Marion.

Officers made contact with 126 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint. Six vehicles were diverted for further investigation, five OVI arrests were made, one drug possession case was initiated, as well as a drug paraphernalia case.  One person was arrested on a felony warrant and an arrest was made for underage possession of alcohol.

Officers working in the area of the OVI checkpoint were also involved in a vehicle pursuit that ended on North State Street. The driver fled officers on foot, but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
