Alvin Kenneth Sanford age 85 of Marion, Ohio passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at his residence.
Born in Forest, Ohio October 19, 1924 to the late Alvin R. and Edith M. (Fisher) Sanford. Alvin was a WW II Army Veteran in the 159th Combat Engineer Batallion at the Battle of The Bulge.
He retired from the government in 1985 as a Contract Specialist Supervisor.
In June of 1947 Alvin married Marguerite V. (Peterson) Sanford she passed away in November of 1997.
Survivors include a sister Vava E. Kindell of Marion, a good friend and companion for 10 years Donna Baer and her family which he considers his, Debbie and Bruce Humes of Toledo, Brian, Heather and Brandon Humes of Toledo, David, Lynn and Misty Baer, Austin and Chase Satterfield, Blake and Alanna Morris all of Marion, and Mathew Baer of Columbus.
Alvin is preceded in death by his wife Marguerite and a daughter Jeaneen R. Simmons.
Alvin was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, NARFE, AARP, 159th Combat Engineer Batallion.
Family will recieve friends from 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM Friday, July 30, 2010 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Emanuel Lutheran Church 241 South Prospect Street. Burial will be held in Chandler Cemetery in Marseilles, Ohio.
