Elva Anna (Ann) Norris Askew, 82, formerly of Marion

Elva Anna (Ann) Norris AskewElva Anna (Ann) Norris Askew, 82, of Lakeside-Marblehead OH, passed away at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH on Friday, October 5, 2012. Ann, a former Marion resident, was surrounded by her family and her physician as she slipped away quietly.

She was born June 24, 1930 to Francis and Beatrice Naomi Thurston Norris in Plankton OH. She has four siblings, a brother, Calvin Norris, deceased, and three sisters, Madge Colby, Dorothy Millington, and Mary (John) Moodie, all of Marion.

Mrs. Askew was a 1948 graduate of Marion Harding.

She married James L. Askew on February 23, 1949. The Askews have five children:  four daughters; Judi Askew (Terry) Robinson of rural Wayne, Peggy Askew (Dennis) Zimmerman of Vermilion, Paula (Jeff) Webb, deceased, Melissa Askew (Donald Jr.) Reid of Marion, and a son, Robert (Natalie) Askew of New Bloomington.

They have 15 grand children: Eric (Melissa) Robinson, of rural Wayne, Emily Robinson (Steven) Kauffman of Columbus, Jonathan (Tonya) Robinson of Blacklick, Jeremy (Elisha) Robinson of rural Risingsun, Benjamin (Megumi) Robinson of Columbus, Elizabeth Robinson (Andrew) Lanker of Lewis Center, Megan Zimmerman of Lakewood, Aaron (Ashlea) Zimmerman also of Lakewood, Samantha & Stephanie Webb of Richwood, Erica and R. J. Reid of Marion, and Nathaniel, Caitlin and Mitchell Askew, all of New Bloomington. Mrs. Askew is also survived by 15 great grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews.

“Ann” was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Marion, where she served as a deacon. She was a leader in the Presbyterian Women and a member of the Martha Circle. She was also a member of the Marion Power Squadron Auxiliary. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed bowling and walking with her sisters.

Her mother, father, brother and one daughter precede her in death.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funereal Directors, 347 W Center St., Marion, OH 43302, from 5PM until 8PM. Funeral services will be held  10:30AM, Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at The First Presbyterian Church, 143 S. Prospect St., Marion, OH with Rev. Robert Howard officiating.  Graveside service will be at the Claiborne Cemetery.
