George F. Bishop age 78 of Marion, Ohio passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Partners of Marion.
He was born September 16, 1934 in Marion, Ohio to the late George D. and Leona B. (Hammeral) Bishop.
On January 31, 1953, he married Betty Lou (Weatherbee), she preceded him in death on August 30, 1993.
George was employed at the former Huber Corporation, and retired from Field Container after several years as the maintenance supervisor. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, VFW Post # 7201, Moose Lodge #889 and the Marion Industrial Club.
In his spare time he enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer, where he has had six hole in ones over his golfing career.
He is survived by a special friend, Joyce Williams of Marion, OH., a daughter, Betty (Roger) Schultz of Waldo, OH., two sons, Clyde (Joyce) Bishop of Marion, OH., John Bishop of Columbus, OH., a brother, Clarence A. (Janet “Kay”) Bishop of Prospect, OH., seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and four brothers, Carlton, Paul, Charles and James Bishop.
Funeral services for George will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2012 @ 10:30 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastors Nick Worden and Bill Middleton officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, October 22, 2012 from 5 – 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
